The role: General Accountant

The General Accountant is responsible for supporting the integrity of the hotel`s financial operations through effective cash management, reconciliations, cashier controls, credit card administration, compliance monitoring, and financial reporting. The role ensures adherence to hotel policies, internal controls, and local regulatory requirements while providing operational and administrative support to the Finance Department.
You`ll be responsible for:

A General Accountant is responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards:

** Control Controlling all cash activities of the Hotel, safeguards cash assets and prepares all financial reports related to cash transactions.
** Ensuring cash handling procedures are compliant with local tax regulations, monitoring daily fiscal cash transactions against Revenue Service records, investigating variances.
** Controlling all credit card transactions, preparing daily credit card collection reports, reconciling credit card receivables, and following up on outstanding balances.
** Conducting weekly/monthly reconciliations of all bank accounts, investigating and resolving reconciling items in a timely manner, and coordinating with team members to ensure completeness and accuracy.
** Assist in communication and preparation of documentation needed by any internal/external auditors
** Thoroughly familiar with the duties and procedures of other team members within the finance department
** Hands-on and take an active role in daily activities within the department, ensuring that all work is up to date and assists team members where and when required
** Coverage of absence of the various positions (vacation, vacancies, etc.)
** Support in any month-end processes as necessary, eg: creation and posting of journal entries, preparation of balance sheet reconciliation, review journal entries of the finance team
** Perform any additional tasks assigned to ensure that the hotel functions smoothly

Supportive functions:

** In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the supervisor based upon the particular requirements of the company.
** File, maintain, and securely store all cash handling, banking, credit card, refund, and reconciliation reports in accordance with record retention requirements and hotel procedures.
** Maintain organized records and supporting documentation to ensure information is readily available for audits, management review, and regulatory compliance purposes.
** Provide administrative support to the Finance Department, including document management, data entry, correspondence, and other duties as assigned.
** Participate in special projects, system implementations, audits, stock counts, and other finance-related assignments as directed by management.
** Assist in any other finance-related and administrative duties as needed.

The Skills That Will Help You Succeed:

** An Ability to access and accurately input information into a computer using various computer software programs.
** Maintain an open line of communication between guests, Team Members and management.
** General knowledge of accounting operations.
** Knowledge of the Tax Code of Georgia.
** Ability to listen effectively and to speak and write English clearly.
** Ability to learn and perform all essential job functions accurately and safely with minimal direct supervision within the initial training period after beginning work.

Experience: Preferred: 3 years of relevant work experience.
