Overview of the Role
As a Senior Product Owner - Core Platform, you will take end-to-end ownership of the delivery and evolution of foundational platform services that power our global gambling ecosystem. This includes capabilities such as Player Account Management, Safer Gambling tooling, Wallet services, Platform Rules and Configuration, Logging/Auditing, and Integration Frameworks.
You will work closely with product managers, engineers, architects, and compliance teams to define detailed requirements, manage stakeholder priorities, and ensure timely, secure, and scalable delivery of platform features. This role sits at the heart of our technology stack and requires a unique mix of product thinking, technical fluency, and delivery expertise.
This role follows a hybrid approach to working, allowing you to combine working from home with working in our modern offices. You and your manager will agree on the best working pattern that suits both of you. We`ll kit you out to work remotely, but we know that collaboration is key to our success, and spending quality time together helps us stay aligned with our mission.
What you`ll do:
Backlog Ownership & Delivery
** Own the team backlog for Core Platform services, ensuring epics and user stories are well-defined, technically sound, and deliver business value.
** Translate high-level strategic direction into executable features and technical requirements.
** Define and prioritize the product backlog in collaboration with engineering leads and architects, ensuring alignment with platform objectives.
Platform Capability Definition
** Specify functional and non-functional requirements (NFRs) for:
- Account lifecycle, KYC, session management, authentication
- Safer Gambling features (e.g., limits, self-exclusion)
- Wallet operations and balance management
- Rules configuration, auditing/logging, and API standards
- Maintain interface definitions, API contracts, and service behaviours across internal and partner-facing systems.
Technical Integration Enablement
** Collaborate with engineering to ensure services are extensible, resilient, and version-compatible for cross-market use.
** Support third-party and brand-specific integrations through standardized APIs, partner playbooks, and versioned interfaces.
Platform Health & Observability
** Define platform KPIs including uptime, latency, error rates, deployment frequency, and incident response time.
** Promote the use of observability tooling and ensure auditing/compliance standards are met.
Stakeholder Collaboration
** Work with compliance, security, customer operations, and other product teams to align platform enhancements with regulatory and business needs.
** Represent the voice of internal platform consumers, ensuring solutions meet their needs.
Continuous Improvement
** Monitor post-deployment performance, user adoption, and platform usage metrics.
** Gather feedback from users and stakeholders to inform future iterations and improvements.
What you`ll bring:
Required Experience and Domain Expertise
** 3+ years of experience as a Product Owner or Technical Product Manager in platform, backend, or B2B environments.
** Strong exposure to Player Account Management, Wallet, or Core Services within the gambling industry.
** Proven track record of managing API-first or platform-level products with internal and external consumers.
** Experience with regulated markets and knowledge of KYC, AML, RG, and data privacy standards.
Technical Skills (Desired)
** Working knowledge of distributed systems, microservices, and event-driven architecture.
** Familiarity with:
- API gateway management and OpenAPI/Swagger specs
- Cloud-native infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
- CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
- Messaging systems (Kafka) and event sourcing
o Observability stacks (e.g., ELK, Prometheus, Grafana)
** Comfortable working with JSON, API documentation, and basic SQL for validation and analysis.
Preferable Qualifications:
** Experience working within large-scale, enterprise-level platform environments.
** Knowledge of SAFe, Scrum, or Scaled Agile environments.
** Certifications such as PSPO, CSPO, or equivalent.
Personal Attributes:
** Strong ownership mentality with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
** Exceptional communicator - able to bridge business and technical conversations clearly.
** Highly organised, with the ability to manage complex dependencies across teams.
** Analytical and detail-oriented, with a focus on quality and maintainability.
** Comfortable operating with a low-UI, highly technical product scope.
