One of the major challenges faced by Georgian small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) is achieving compliance with international quality standards and obtaining the necessary certifications, which are critical for expanding sales to the European Union (EU) and other European markets.
To address this challenge and support the growth of export-oriented businesses, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Georgia has launched the Trade Access and Certification Support Programme.
This initiative provides co-financing to help SMEs introduce international standards, obtain quality certifications and accreditations, and secure product licenses required for exporting to the EU and European countries. Examples include ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 22000, preparation of technical documentation for CE marking, BSCI, etc.
The co-financing covers 90% of the costs related to certification, accreditation, and/or licensing of the product or the enterprise itself, up to a maximum of USD 3, 500 per beneficiary SME. The detailed programme description and presentation (in English and Georgian) are provided in the attached files.
Sectors supported under the programme:
** Food and beverage processing;
** Selected service sectors such as information and communication, professional, scientific and technical activities, education, healthcare services, among others.
