Programme/Department Summary:
Alliances Caucasus 2 is a market systems development programme targeting rural producers in Georgia. Its purpose is to increase incomes and improve livelihoods through better, sustainable productivity, resilient market access, local employment opportunities and more equitable inclusion in local natural resource use.
The programme is the Swiss Development Cooperation (SDC) project in cooperation with the Austrian Development Cooperation (ADC) and the Swedish International Development Cooperation SIDA, implemented by Mercy Corps Georgia.
General Position Summary:
The Driver, part time (50%) of Alliances Caucasus 2 will be responsible for ensuring that Mercy Corps Georgia`s supplies are safeguarded, maintained and moved within different offices of Georgia to meet the needs of Alliances Caucasus Programme 2 operations in Samtskhe Javakheti Region; that is vehicles fleet is kept in a professional and operational condition at all times; and that the highest standards of transparency are maintained in accordance Mercy Corps and SDC requirements. As the Driver she/he provides safe transport services for Mercy Corps Alliances Caucasus Programme 2 and support staff during their travel. She/he will follow the transport guidelines required by the Mercy Corps Vehicle Usage Policy and ensure proper use of Mercy Corps vehicles.
Primary Responsibilities:
Undertake the following responsibilities with Alliances Caucasus 2 Programme implementation in Samtskhe Javakheti region:
** Operate Mercy Corps Alliances Caucasus Programme 2 Akhaltsikhe vehicle as assigned by supervisor
** Operate the Mercy Corps Alliances Caucasus Programme 2 vehicle assigned for Samtskhe Javakheti Region activities, ensuring all transport tasks are carried out safely, efficiently, and in accordance with organizational policies.
** Maintain vehicle log-sheets for the Alliances Caucasus 2 Samtskhe-Javakheti Sub Office in accordance with Mercy Corps policies/regulations.
** Check the vehicle conditions after each trip/routinely - report needs and problems to transport management.
** Adhere to all safety and communication protocols as advised by Mercy Corps and supervisor.
** Ensure the safekeeping and proper management of programme vehicle equipment, including tools, first aid kits, spare parts, and other essential supplies, maintaining them in good condition and readily available for use.
** Keep the Alliances Caucasus Programme 2 vehicle assigned for Samtskhe Javakheti Region activities ready, clean and on standby - ready for use at all times.
** Collect and submit vehicle related receipts to the logistics/operations Officer.
** Ensure security measures for vehicles such as parking, storage of keys, emergency supplies, etc.
** Ensure that security incident reports are completed and filed (if related to vehicles).
** Ensure that accident reports are completed and filed.
** Report all maintenance needs of the vehicle to transport management on a regular basis.
** Adherence to all Mercy Corps policies and procedures as outlined in Mercy Corps policies and procedure manuals.
** Conduct himself/herself both professionally and personally in such a manner as to bring credit to Mercy Corps and to not jeopardize its humanitarian mission in the country of operation.
** Work with a positive, proactive attitude and demonstrate respect for all colleagues.
** Work effectively in an energetic, team-oriented environment.
** Other related tasks assigned by the supervisors.
Key Requirements:
** Georgian citizenship (resident of Samtskhe Javakheti region is preferred)
** At least two years of experience of working as a driver
** Valid driving license (B or C) and at least five years of driving experience (driving on countryside and bad condition roads is an advantage)
** Basic vehicle maintenance knowledge and ability to troubleshoot common mechanical issues in the field.
** Proficiency in using smartphones, GPS navigation tools, and basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook).
** Demonstrated sense of responsibility, reliability, and confidentiality in handling organizational property and information.
** Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a professional and courteous attitude.
** Good knowledge of English and Russian languages is desirable for effective communication with staff and partners.
