Background
The Regional Environmental Centre for the Caucasus (REC Caucasus) is an independent, non-for-profit, non-advocacy organization established in 1999 within the framework of the "Environment for Europe" process. Founded by the governments of Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and the European Union, REC Caucasus operates as a regional platform to support environmental governance, sustainable development, and the advancement of civil society across the South Caucasus.
With extensive experience in supporting international environmental processes, including engagement under the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), REC Caucasus is actively contributing to climate mitigation and adaptation efforts in the region. In line with Georgia`s climate commitments, REC Caucasus is strengthening its climate adaptation portfolio. This includes support to international reporting obligations, climate finance readiness (including engagement with the Adaptation Fund), and the development of adaptation project pipelines aligned with national priorities.
Objective of the Assignment
The Climate Adaptation Specialist will lead and coordinate REC Caucasus`s climate adaptation work, ensuring effective implementation of ongoing initiatives and contributing to the development of new adaptation projects and climate finance opportunities in Georgia.
