About the Role
We are looking for a Senior Accountant based in Georgia to lead a team of accountants covering the full accounting function for Latvia & Malta entities as well as other locations. The role owns review and quality control of the team`s work, audit support and senior-level communication with group companies (LV/EE/PL/RO/GE/US) — and additionally owns the accounting for Georgian import & export operations as a separate workstream. Tax compliance for LV/MT remains with an external provider and not required for the role. The role will be reporting to country senior financial controller.
Key Responsibilities
Supervision & Review (core focus)
** Supervise and review the work of the AP & Banking Accountant and the GL & Reporting Accountant
** Quality control of postings; sign-off on month-end close and reconciliations
** Workload planning, coordination of deadlines, and training/onboarding of the team
** Escalation point for complex postings, judgment areas and accounting policy questions
Audit & Senior-Level Matters
** Preparation of information and replies for auditor requests (LV/RO/US)
** Cross-country meetings and tax alignment discussions with group companies
** Ad-hoc senior requests: residence certificates, intercompany transaction files, cash-flow files for financial statements
** Coordination with the external provider on outsourced areas (tax compliance, payment execution)
Georgian Import & Export Operations (separate workstream — new scope)
** Accounting for import and export transactions of the Georgian operations (goods, customs duties, freight, insurance)
** Preparation and control of import/export documentation: customs declarations, waybills, invoices
** Coordination with customs brokers and the Georgian Revenue Service (RS.ge)
** VAT treatment of import/export transactions and coordination of Georgian tax filings
** GEL/FX handling and monitoring of Georgian currency and customs regulations
Collaboration & Communication
** Senior point of contact for group companies — support and communication (LV/EE/PL/RO/GE/US)
** Internal communication and IT-issue coordination for the accounting team
Requirements
** Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; professional certification (ACCA or equivalent) is an advantage
** 5+ years of full-cycle accounting experience, incl. 2+ years supervising or reviewing the work of other accountants
** Experience working in international companies is required — ideally in a multi-entity, multi-currency group environment
** Knowledge of Georgian accounting, tax and customs requirements for import/export operations
** Comfortable overseeing accounting for foreign entities (Latvia and Malta) under EU accounting frameworks
** Experience with an ERP system — Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central is a strong advantage
** Strong Excel skills (review files, reconciliations, cash-flow files)
** Fluent written and spoken English; Georgian required for local authorities and customs brokers
Nice to Have
** Experience with the Georgian Revenue Service portal (RS.ge) and customs procedures
** Experience supporting external audits and year-end financial statements
** Prior experience taking over an accounting function from an outsourced provider and building a team
