The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Tbilisi is seeking candidates for position of Communication Officer.

About us

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is a Geneva-based humanitarian organization that protects and assists victims of armed conflicts and other situations of violence without discrimination. It has been providing humanitarian aid in Georgia for more than 30 years.

Purpose

The Communication Officer is expected to contribute to the design, planning and implementation of Communication projects and activities in coordination with the country communication and prevention manager. S/he shall be contributing to representing the ICRC externally and to build the necessary understanding, acceptance and support of the ICRC among key stakeholders.

Accountability & Functional responsibilities

** Contribute to defining communication objectives, strategies, and plans of action in line with the delegation`s priorities, including support to the Missing persons` Program.
** Implement relevant activities with minimal supervision and develop tools for operational communication, community engagement and International Humanitarian Law (IHL) promotion.
** Participate in the elaboration of the communication budget and ensure its implementation.
** Develop and implement a social media strategy that complements the overall strategy of the institution.
** Manage the organization`s Facebook page, ensuring content accurately reflects ICRC`s activities and initiatives at local, regional, and global levels.
** Produce content for the ICRC website, including updates, story proposals, video footage, and photographs.
** Identify key messages, target audiences, and appropriate communication channels to ensure coherent and effective communication outputs.
** Monitor digital performance and audience engagement, adjusting content and approach based on analytics where relevant.
** Develop and maintain a network of media contacts (local and international).
** Ensure that all activities and interactions are conducted in a manner that upholds the ICRC`s image, principles, and professional standards.
** Contribute to regular and ad hoc reporting on communication activities.
** Provide interpretation and translation services (ENG-GEO-RUS) to support communication programs as required.
** Provide support and facilitate the planning and execution of various events in accordance with the Plan of Action.

People management responsibilities: No

Certifications / Education required

** University degree or equivalent in a relevant field such as communications, journalism, marketing.
** Computer skills (proficiency in MS Office); familiarity with digital communication tools
** Shall be able to produce/edit video clips, make sub-titles, produce cards in canvas or other applications

Desired Profile and Skills:

** Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail,
** Effective communication and the ability to communicate ideas clearly and persuasively in both written and verbal formats, adapting messages to different audiences / platforms
** Ability to work under pressure, autonomously and proactively
** Sense of responsibility and capacity to meet deadlines. Good sense of responsibility and discipline.

Professional Experience required

** 3 year`s work experience in a field relevant to communication (preferably with international organizations) is desired.
** Good knowledge of the political, social & media environment in the country/region

Languages: Fluent spoken and written Georgian, English and Russian languages;

If successful, you may then be employed by that National Society and seconded to the ICRC for an assignment to its operations.

Countries of nationality or residence concerned: Australia, Canada, Denmark, Finland, Ireland, Iceland, Japan, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Sweden, and United Kingdom.

Therefore, if you fall under this category, by providing your data to the ICRC, you acknowledge the possibility of the transfer of your application file to the National Society of your country of nationality or permanent residence.
