The Energy Efficiency Center (EECG), within the program "Sustainable Urban Development in Georgia" (SUD) of Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), is announcing a competition for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) operating in the Zugdidi municipality.
The purpose of this competition is to support local businesses in improving the energy efficiency of their facilities through professional building energy audits. As a result of these audits, energy-saving technological measures will be identified, and participants will receive expert recommendations necessary for their effective implementation.
The competition gives successful participants the opportunity to:
** Receive expert technical assistance in the field of energy efficiency;
** Assess the current state of their building in terms of energy consumption;
** Receive individual technical proposals for measures that will lead to improvements in energy efficiency;
** Receive recommendations on the selection of appropriate materials and technologies;
** Receive additional technical support to improve the energy efficiency indicators of their facilities.
Who can participate?
Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are eligible to participate in the competition, which:
** Operate a facility located within the Zugdidi municipality;
** Are classified as small or medium-sized enterprises (SMEs);
** Operate in any of the following sectors: guesthouses, restaurants, cafes, beauty salons, medical/dental offices, shops, workshops, service centers;
** Own or long-term lease a building/part of the building in Zugdidi Municipality, where energy is consumed to create internal temperature comfort;
** Is willing to share their experience in other similar companies in the same region.
What benefits does the competition provide?
1. Expert services aimed at improving energy efficiency - conducting an energy audit, which includes:
** Detection and assessment of energy consumption and losses;
** Technical analysis of the building and/or energy equipment;
** Recommendations to improve energy efficiency.
2. Expert technical support. Selected SMEs will receive:
** Specific technical proposals for the implementation of energy-efficient measures;
** Recommendations on the selection of materials and technologies.
Implementing selected energy-efficiency measures in the facilities of the competition winners may be offered.
Expert services will be provided for two (2) selected SMEs per municipality.
Interested applicants must submit a completed application form by April 1, 2026, to participate in the competition (see Annex 1) to the following email address: eecgeo@eecgeo.org. Please indicate "Energy Efficiency Competition" in the subject line.
Competition phases:
** Selection of participants by the evaluation team (GIZ and EECG);
** Informational meetings with SMEs to inform about and identify viable energy efficiency improvement measures: May 2026;
** Development of technical proposals, energy auditing, and recommendations by EECG: 30 April 2026
