The Embassy of Switzerland in Georgia is looking for a Visa- and Consular Officer. In a small and dynamic team, you will be receiving and processing Schengen Visa applications as well as national Visa applications for residents of Georgia and Armenia. You will support the Head of Consular Services in processing civil status matters and providing other consular services to the Swiss citizens visiting or living in Georgia and Armenia.
Duty station: Tbilisi, Georgia
Work time and duration: 100% (40 hours per week), permanent position
Reporting to: Head of Consular Services
Beginning of employment: March 2026
Tasks of Visa- and Consular Officer:
Under the guidance of the Head of Consular Services, your main tasks will include:
** Receiving and reviewing visa applications and supporting documents.
** Scheduling and conducting visa interviews.
** Responding to email and phone inquiries regarding visa matters.
** Printing and issuing visa stickers to applicants.
** Maintaining accurate filing and archiving of visa applications.
** Staying informed on key legislation and regulations related to visas and civil status.
** Receiving and verifying civil status documents for transmission to Switzerland.
** Supporting communication with local authorities.
** Handling the sending and receipt of diplomatic pouch and local mail.
Requested Profile and Competencies

** Educational background: The candidate holds a bachelor`s university degree in business administration or equivalent.
** Work experience: The candidate has a minimum of five years of working experience in an administrative function. Experience gained in consular functions at an Embassy or International Organisation is an asset.
** Professional competencies: The candidate has a proven expertise in the field of administration and customer service. The candidate has strong organisational skills and can express himself in a clear, concise and convincing manner. Proficiency in full Microsoft Office suite is required.
** Corporate competencies
- The successful candidate is a team player, shows an enhanced degree of service- and customer orientation and has excellent communication- and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to complete multiple tasks timely and efficiently, the ability to prioritize different assignments independently and to deliver consistent and reliable results is required.
- Trustworthiness, discretion and a sound jundgment are expected at all times.
Identification with the Swiss Federal Department for Foreign Affairs` values and ethical standards, such as anti-corruption, equality, respect of minorities, cultural- and religious diversity, is a must.
** Languages: The candidate is fluent in Georgian and English, orally and in writing, and has a good knowledge of Russian. Further language skills, f. ex. Armenian or the knowledge of a Swiss national language (DE, FR, IT) or the willingness to learn, is an additional asset.
** Nationality: Applications of all nationalities are welcome. Applications from candidates with Swiss citizenship or the citizenship of a member state of the Schengen area will be advantageous. A valid residence- and work permit in Georgia is a prerequisite for all non-Georgian candidates.
