CTC offers Training Course for CSO Leaders and Activists - "Strategic Campaigning for Social Transformation".

Training has been organized within the East-West Management Institute`s (EWMI) project - Advancing CSO Capacities and Engaging Society for Sustainability (ACCESS) supported by the United States International Development Agency (USAID) in partnership with Centre for Training and Consultancy

The program focuses on developing the understanding of civic activists on the topic of social transformation through strategic nonviolent action. The training will develop activists` competences to identify and understand social transformation and enable them to plan respective civic campaign incorporating strategic nonviolence as a transversal element of their actions. These competences will be developed through a review of the conceptual understanding of transformation, strategy, methods and case studies. More precisely, the main topics covered during the training are:

1. Approaches and concepts to social transformation and change

** Understanding social transformation
** Forms of power
** Types of change
** Forms of violence

2. Principles and practices of change processes

** Types of nonviolent action
** Principles of nonviolent action
** Methods for nonviolent action

3. Change action strategy, tactics and methods

** Theory of change
** Pathway mapping

4. Structure and decision-making in activist groups and movements

5. Good practices and case studies

The Course will be delivered by two co-trainers:

Sebastian Schweitzer - project manager at the European Intercultural Forum e. V., a freelance trainer and consultant who has been working in the educational sector since 2003. He finished Political Science and started working in civic education in Germany. Since 2006, he focused his work on the South Caucasus and the Western Balkans. Sebastian facilitates seminars and training courses on topics such as peace-building, conflict transformation, active participation and civic education for civil society activists and project managers. He is also researching and educating on peace education, social transformation, advising strategic planning processes for movements and CSOs, and supports CSOs in the South Caucasus in fundraising.

Israel Peralta - manager of the program "Strengthening Culture of Peace" at the Academy for Peace and Development in Georgia, with the support of Brot fur die Welt in Germany. Israel is involved in peace work since 2007, mostly at international level and with focus in the South Caucasus and Eastern Europe. He is the expert advisor on educational programs and Eastern Europe and Caucasus at the International Institute for Nonviolent Action. Israel has developed educational program and conducted research on social transformation, nonviolence and peace education. He delivered more than 60 international training courses for young people, activists and change-makers on peace-building and transformative change.
